Keto Grocery Haul From Trader Joe’s

Keto Grocery Haul From Trader Joe’s

Trader Joe’s Love

Make no mistake about it, I love Trader Joe’s!  This is today’s Keto Grocery Haul From Trader Joe’s!

Before I started eating keto, I loved Trader Joe’s but it wasn’t because of the fresh vegetables, spectacular service and fun atmosphere they have.  It was for all the reasons I needed to lose weight anyway –  they have the best tasting snacks, candy, chocolate, cakes and Jalapeño Limeade you could ever imagine.  Yes, I said Jalapeño Limeade and it’s absolutely fantastic! (But not for a diabetic who is trying to avoid sugar and carbs)

Today’s keto grocery haul was to help me meal prep for the rest of the week (I’m making Keto Taco Soup as I write this) and can’t wait to eat it throughout the week!  Before getting to Trader Joe’s I had loaded up on meat at Sam’s Club, though I still bought some meat at Trader Joe’s as well.

When I first started on Keto, one of the first things I googled was “keto friendly at Trader Joe’s.”  I was looking for low carb options that I liked.  So many of the keto sites I had found talked about ingredients I had never even heard of, lots of supplements and I was super confused.  I wanted real food options, at least to get started on keto.

Trader Joe’s Keto Grocery Haul

Today’s grocery haul was rather standard for me.  I keep a grocery list on my phone of keto friendly items that I can find at Trader Joe’s.  Another list for Sam’s Club and another for Publix.  But honestly, it’s not too often I run to Publix for anything (it’s the closest to me).

Keto Groceries From Trader Joe’s

Ground Beef 80/20
Pot Roast
Eggs
Shredded Sharp Cheddar
Peppered Sliced Salami (great for snacks!)
Cream Cheese
Broccoli Florets
Cauliflower
Riced Broccoli
Asparagus
Frozen Riced Cauliflower (they were out of fresh)
Romaine Lettuce
White Onion
Mayonaise
Tomato Sauce
Diced Fire Roasted Tomatoes with Chile’s (hoping this is like Rotel)
Free Range Chicken Stock
Alkaline Electrolytes Water
Baking Powder
Grape Tomatos

Grand Total: $70.48

The pot roast was $13.63, but should last me 3 or 4 meals and honestly the only reason I bought it was because I’m craving cauliflower “mashed potatoes” and what goes better with mashed potatoes than pot roast??  The Hot & Spicy Taco Soup will last four meals.  The eggs will last me a week for breakfast and all of the other veggies are great for sides, salads and omelets.

Keto Snacks From Trader Joe’s

Though I only bought the peppered salami for snacks today (I’m cutting out snacking all together), here’s a small list of items I’ve purchased from Trader Joe’s for keto friendly snacks:

Trader Joe’s Frozen Hot Wings (they microwave in 7 minutes)
Almonds
Macadamia nuts
Sliced Cheeses (their cheese selection is epic!)
Trader Joe’s Thai Lime and Chili Nuts (Almonds)
Organic Peanut Butter (personally, I’m not a fan of all natural peanut butter so I’ve stopped eating peanut butter)
Trader Joe’s Kosher Hot & Spicy Dill Pickle Chips (They are SO Good!!)
Trader Joe’s Organic Kosher Dill Pickle Spears (the pickle juice is wonderful on keto too!)

Most of these items are definitely for small portion snacks, and not meals.  Carbs show up everywhere!

Isn’t it so great??? Even before I started eating healthy I thought it was incredible because of their bread, amazing snacks and incredible array of chocolate! Their chips, popcorn and even their salsa was so amazing!

And now that I’m eating healthy, I love the quality and offering of healthy options. I’m definitely a huge fan of Trader Joe’s!

    Can you come to canada

  3. […] When I first started out I was told “You can eat anything on keto as long as you keep your carbs under 22g a day.”  At the time, I didn’t have a clue of how many carbs are in everyday foods, so I started looking up low carb foods that I could eat on Keto.  I started a keto grocery list so I could simply focus on what I can eat on keto.  Check out this recent Trader Joe’s Grocery Haul . I wish I would have read this yesterday…I made a trip to Trader Joe’s because I started Keto yesterday…using what I had left over from TJ and then after dinner went to TJ to stock up. Got the staples, but I became so confused reading everything…and everything has carbs…ugh. Anyway, there’s carbs in my fave veggies…cucumbers, broccoli and carrots…oh my….I think I need a good food scale to really determine my portions so I calculate the correct carbs…do you use one? and if so which one and where did you get it?

Don’t let it all overwhelm you. It seriously gets easier as you go along and find a few really good recipes that you like. I often eat broccoli…but avoid carrots because of the carbs and sugars.

I do use a food scale – just one I picked up from target for like $15. (Taylor 11lb digital glass top) It helped me TREMENDOUSLY because me eyeballing different amounts had me WAY off at first. You’re so right – EVERYTHING has carbs!

At this point I’ve lost 46 pounds and feel amazing! Stick with it and you’ll begin to feel sooooo good! Thanks for stopping by my blog – you’re more than welcome to join our FB group if the encouragement and inspiration would help you.

When at TJ’s ALWAYS….ALWAYS pick up their coconut cream the one in the brown can. I’ve almost tried EVERY kind of canned coconut cream!! TJ’s is the best bc its natural coconut cream with roughly 80-20% maybe even more like 90-10% coconut fat to water. This is about as magical as mozzarella combined with almond flour! After leaving the can in the fridge overnight (I now store all of my canned coconut cream) you can add a touch of your favorite sweetener and vanilla and whip in to a perfect base for anything or as is. Add some chocolate cocoa for a silky Chocolate Mousse, fold into a cheesecake the possibilities are endless. Second add boiled and peeled eggs to left over pickle juice for an out of this world snack these even make next level deviled eggs throw in favorite condiments some crumbled bacon and boom…sit back with a smile! I’ve got other tips but I am rambling…lol. Have a great day!
