Hey there this is Bonnie Cribbs and you’re listening to Your Morning Jumpstart. We’re on episode 9 and it’s all about another way to help you have more Joy and excitement in your life.  But before we get started, I truly want to say thank you for spending part of your day with me, for subscribing to this podcast and for the reviews you guys have shared with me on iTunes.

When I get a rating and review, I celebrate.  It’s a win – and so I take the time to literally celebrate!

…and that’s the topic of today’s show – Celebrating your wins.

Most likely if you’re listening to Your Morning Jumpstart you have some big goals you want to accomplish.  And when we have big goals, that means we have actions we need to take in order to achieve them.  Most people seem to focus on how much further they have to go instead of how far they’ve come.

For me, I’m out to lose 100 more pounds.  And even in saying that, I get that little feeling of overwhelm thinking about how hard, difficult and challenging that’s going to be. 100 pounds is a LOT of weight to lose!

If I didn’t celebrate the wins along the way, I may lose sight of what I HAVE actually accomplished.

So far, that’s 60 pounds!  And seriously, I’m soooo proud of myself for each of those pounds!  I’m 1/3 of the way through my goal and I’ve found ways throughout the process to celebrate.

What I like to do is to encourage and reward the actions that help accomplish the goal.  I’ll share some examples.

For me, most of my “actions” are around eating healthy and staying active.

So when I stay active for 7 days in a row, I celebrate and even reward myself.

Early on, I would reward myself each week that I stayed on track nutritionally.  Then I moved that reward to each month that I stayed on track. 

Today actually marks one full year of staying on track nutritionally, so I’m celebrating that today.  One full year of no bread, no pasta, no sweets, no sweet tea, no doughnuts, no chocolate covered anything, no churros from Disney World.  When I say and acknowledge all of that, I’m super proud – it’s a big deal!  And I promise you it’s a better feeling than having any of them!

It’s great to recognize, celebrate and reward the action that you’re taking, especially in regards to weight loss.  You have a LOT more control over your actions than the results.  The results come with the actions, so if you continue the actions, the results WILL come!  Reinforcing the actions is a win-win!

When it comes to the activity, I celebrate the milestones there, too.  Literally the milestones…. when I reach X number of steps in a week, staying active so many days in a row, beating a daily goal or a daily record.  I celebrate the action.

In my business I have sales goals, so I do the same thing there – I celebrate the activities that I do that bring on new customers and additional revenue.  And when I get a new customer, I celebrate that, too!

Celebrating the wins along the way gives you the opportunity to enjoy the journey and the process.  It gives you a cadence of joy and excitement along the way, it allows you to be proud of yourself for taking the journey and to be happy with your progress along the way.

But don’t make celebrating the wins ALL about you – take the time to celebrate the wins of others.  Encourage them, congratulate them, recognize them, honor them.  Taking the time to recognize and encourage other people will make them feel like a million bucks…and honestly, it will make you feel pretty dang good, too.

Today I want you to take a couple of minutes and outlines some ways you can celebrate some victories along the way.  What are some rewards you can give yourself that will motivate you keep moving forward?  What are some milestones along the way that you can celebrate?

Find some ways that you can celebrate the wins of others too.  What can you do that will be uniquely YOU to celebrate what others are accomplishing.  I’m telling you, you’ll love doing this – if it ever gets into you to celebrate and champion others, you will feel amazing.

Don’t cheat yourself out of experiencing the Joy that comes from doing a job well done.  If you’re doing a good job along the way, celebrate it!
